The Ohio Supreme Court gave the go-ahead to a new stormwater management program. Five communities and the local retail lobby had taken the Northeast Ohio regional Sewer District to court. They contested the sewer district’s authority to manage stormwater and charge fees to pay for the program....

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has announced a grant program worth $2.3 million. According to the secretary of the DEP, John Quigley, the grants will support projects that control urban stormwater and improve water quality across the Chesapeake Bay Watershed....

The Washington Department of Ecology has fined three companies in Bellingham, Washington, $3,000 each for failing to file their stormwater monitoring reports for the first three quarters of 2010. Under the Clean Water Act, the state requires that companies must monitor and submit reports about stormwater leaving their industrial sites....

The federal government designed the Chesapeake Bay pollution diet to improve the overall health of the bay. The diet forces Anne Arundel and other counties adjacent to the bay to put in place upgraded stormwater controls with the goal of achieving the pollution levels outlined in the plan by 2025....

This year, Chimney Rock State Park is breaking the loop, with some assistance from David Lee, a steward with the Carolina Mountain Land Conservancy. Lee helped arrange for fifteen goats to spend two weeks at the park, grazing on kudzu to their hearts’ content....

The city is allowing artists to paint semi-permanent murals along the storm drains, all designed to let people know where the stormwater is headed. At an upcoming BBQ festival, attendees will vote on the murals, and the winner will be used as the design for the city’s upcoming Rail Fest Water Run....
