Nebraska Firm to Pay Fine

A Nebraska construction firm, Majestic C Team LLC, has agreed to pay a $10,750 penalty for allowing muddy site runoff to flow into a tributary of the Big Papio Creek. The agreement came as part of a settlement with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

The company, which owns and operates the Majestic Pointe housing development, will also underwrite $42,000 worth of environmental projects, including a water-quality swale to slow down runoff and absorb pollutants that might otherwise flow into streams, lakes and rivers.

The ruling was based on an inspection conducted last November, which revealed runoff going under and over silt fences, an overfull sediment collection basin and a significant amount of dirt washed into the nearby streets.
